Faculty of Science

The College of Science is one of the largest colleges of the university in terms of the number of students and faculty members. It was established in 1431 AH, and since its establishment, it has been able to achieve a distinguished position thanks to the high quality of education and scientific research, in addition to the diversity of the academic programs it offers.
The academic programs in the college vary to include the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to diploma programs, reflecting the college's commitment to providing comprehensive education that meets the different needs of students. The college also contributes to enriching knowledge by organizing scientific activities, conferences, seminars, and workshops that contribute to creating a vibrant and advanced scientific environment within the college.
The college includes several distinguished scientific departments that vary in different specializations, reflecting the comprehensiveness of its education and the diversity of its research fields.

The College of Science has taken the initiative to apply modern technologies in the educational process and electronic tests to keep pace with global scientific development. The college also seeks to improve the quality of education by using innovative educational tools and enhancing the digital learning experience, which contributes to preparing students to face the challenges of the modern era. The college is constantly working to achieve the goals set by the university, in line with its vision and mission, and to contribute to making Jeddah University one of the leading universities at the local, regional, and international levels, thus contributing to achieving the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030. In addition, the college focuses on enhancing academic cooperation with local and international scientific research institutions, which contributes to the exchange of knowledge and expertise and helps in developing joint research projects. It also seeks to provide advanced training programs for students and faculty members, intending to raise the level of academic and administrative skills in line with market needs and scientific developments.

n a new scientific achievement, a research team from the College of Science has obtained a U.S. patent in the field of breast cancer treatment. The College of Science family extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Ruaa bint Mahdi Al-Rubaie and Dr. Hind bint Ali Al-Khathami from the Department of Biological Sciences, specializing in Biochemistry, on the occasion of obtaining a U.S. patent titled: “1,2,3-Triazole Compounds, Their Pharmaceutical Composition, and Method for Treating Breast Cancer” Patent No. (US12,258,321 B1) This remarkable achievement reflects their distinguished research efforts, continuous innovation, and the university’s strong support, represented by the Institutes of Scientific Research and Innovation. We wish them continued success, excellence, and further scientific creativity and accomplishments.
U.S. Patent in the Field of Leukemia Treatment

In a new scientific achievement, a research team from the College of Science has been granted a U.S. patent in the field of leukemia treatment. The College of Science family extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Ruaa bint Mahdi Al-Rubaie and Dr. Hind bint Ali Al-Khathami from the Department of Biological Sciences, specializing in Biochemistry, on the occasion of obtaining a U.S. patent titled: “Derivatives of (5-amino pyridine-2-yl)-N-benzyl-ethanedione and their use in treating acute myeloid leukemia” (US12,285,418 B1). This remarkable achievement reflects the team’s outstanding research efforts, continuous innovation, and the university’s ongoing support, represented by the Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
